The Romance with Inertia

This is supposed to be the fourth writing this month, yet it is the first. I decided to write anyway, I chose to make an irreversible commitment to a group of younger friends. I made a promise, one that would have made me irresponsible if I rescinded. I told them, before next week is over, my first post would be out.

This post is written to encourage, motivate and shoot some adrenalin into some sleepy, weary souls already giving up on a total, complete and fulfilling life in 2014.
I can imagine someone thinking to himself, I would start in February, January is not already over. No! You are wrong it isn't . Start now!

Sometimes, the perfect time is whenever you start executing the project you intend to undertake. To begin, you however have to overcome that initial reluctance to start.
That initial reluctance, termed Inertia, is a monster! May be you have another nomenclature for it but it is just as harmful.
It will give you a reason to start later.
Inertia is an enemy of your projects. It might initially appear to be:
your thoughtful friend; that feeling to be safe, and hold off because you are not ready.
your diligent analyzer; keeps evaluating and re-evaluating without inspiring you tote point of action.
your patient incubator; tells you to keep processing those ideas, gives you the impression that your ideas are always at infancy, even after you have processed them.
Inertia could give you a thousand and one other reasons to do nothing.
Don't let it take you forever to realize that Inertia is your project inhibitor(prevents you from doing anything).

Someone once said, "never leave till tomorrow what you can do today, for tomorrow will wait, but time will not". That first step is the toughest to overcoming inertia, take the step anyway!
If you have been very affectionate and loving to Inertia, it is high time you got disaffectionate and uncaring about it. Don't let it stand in the way of your progress, take that first step.

End that romance with Inertia by making a move.
God has done all he is ever going to do! It is your move.

The Total Life is indeed the reserve of Children of God who would dare to act on the instructions or ideas God has given them.

Make this confession:

God is producing in me, the desires and the actions that please him.
The force of God propels me to overcome every form of Inertia.
My destiny is not impeded, rather it is maximized.
The Blessing is at work and I allow it do a total work.
I have a Total Life.

Listen! He has something to say about EVERYTHING.

You might have to forgive me in advance: I deliberately watched my daughter cry today! I had a simple message for her: you won't fall asleep in my arms; young lady, you’ll have to fall asleep without any rocking, cooing or lullaby.

I had been a textbook father for a while; by that, I mean, I had been reading from babycenter.com and glanced through other textbooks on babies and I had some volumes as well. I was committed to practicing them carefully. Right in the middle of one of my practice sessions of trying to make sure she didn’t get used to certain things, I got accosted by the Holy Spirit. He spoke up on the inside of me – from my spirit. It was quite instructive. I must say the Holy Spirit is the best at everything. He is omniscient. He knows how to raise children best!

Then I was reminded of a statement that had caught my attention when I watched Steven Spielberg's Lincoln about 2 weeks back. Daniel Day-Lewis played Abraham Lincoln and in a conversation with Tommy Lee Jones, who played Rep. Stevens, the Chairman, House committee on Ways and Means, he said "the compass I learnt, when I was serving, it will point you true north from where you are standing but it's got no advice about the swamps, deserts and chasms you will encounter along the way. If in pursuit of your destination you plunge ahead, heedless of obstacles and achieve nothing more than to sink into a swamp, what is the use of knowing true north?"

Although that was in the 1860s, long before GPS satellites and other high-tech navigational aids came to be, that statement left me thinking about the capability of the Holy Spirit in the life of every child of God. He is more precise than the compass and even better than the most advanced technological navigation aid.

The Total Life is impossible without his help. The Bible says He has been the executor of God's instruction since creation began. He moved into the earth permanently since the day of Pentecost and he makes His home in the heart of all who receive Jesus as Lord and Saviour. He is the administrator of The Total Life; leading, guiding, teaching and instructing each Child of God. Sometimes in spectacular ways, but mostly He speaks to the heart of God's children. That Yes or No, Move or Stop, Do or Don't, Green or Red, Peace or Lack of Peace, is the Holy Spirit instructing our hearts.

Sometimes he instructs us through The Bible, he also gives detailed instructions.

He gave me some about my daughter yesterday, I didn't hear it with my physical ears but somewhere down in my heart.

He'd instruct anyone who would listen to him on all areas of life. The Total Life can't indeed be realized without him.

Spend time with him through the reading, studying and meditation of The Bible and also through Prayer, especially in tongues.  As you do these, you would grow to understand his dealings with you.

The Total Life is God's will for you and yours. The Holy Spirit is actually eager to instruct you in and on every area of life. He is eager to teach and bring you into the experience of The Total Life.

Make these declarations boldly:

I hear the voice of God.

I am supernaturally led by His Spirit.

I have accurate and precise instructions for every area of my life.

My manifestations are not aborted.

No Way!!!

I was in my bathroom yesterday when i realized i had vehemently fought off an allergy. I had bought a product recently and after the second use, I  noticed a very strong allergic reaction. It had started after my first use but I didn't pay attention to it, or I'd rather say I hadn't expected an allergic reaction. So I ignored it.  Having clearly ascertained my body reacted badly to it  after the second use, I had a few options: dump that product for another or stop the allergic reaction!
Yes the other option was to stop the reaction, and yes, it was possible for me to do that.

The fact that I have access to The Total Life means my health is meant to be intact: no sickness, no disease, no allergy. Don't misunderstand me, there would be many opportunities to be sick, diseased, and to suffer allergies; symptoms will try to stick many times as well. You must only learn to say NO WAY. You must learn to pass up opportunities to be knocked down by the symptoms.

So I said NO WAY, not because I couldn't afford a new product. I said so because I chose The Total Life.

I must have mumbled a few words, confessing that Jesus bore my allergies. Truly i can't remember all that I said, but whatever I said, had a clear message: NO WAY. After I spoke God's word concerning my health, I stuck to my faith declaration. Everything vanished. It gave way to the life of God in me. The life that makes The Total Life a reality.

Again, like I said in previous posts, The Total Life is available for everyone who has confessed the lordship of Jesus Christ. Yes, salvation is the only ticket to it.
After salvation, one important thing you must do to enjoy The Total Life: Fight!
Yes, fight, not with fists, but with the word of God.
Find out the provisions of The Total Life from the Bible. Use those scriptures to fight. It is a fight of words. Make bold declarations with those words. The Bible calls it the good fight, so you are sure to win. Stand your ground, don't waver. Apply this to every area of your life; get accustomed to winning. The Total life is a road laden with victories. Keep on winning, every battle is an opportunity to prove God faithful.

I had outstanding opportunities to give up-thoughts scrambled for space in my reasoning faculty; i thought: "What is the big deal? Your body just reacted....Just change the product.... Don't be spooky about this, it is just a product...I'm sure the doctor can explain why." All sorts of interesting thoughts, but I said NO WAY!
I can assure you, there are always enough excuses to explain you out of The Total Life, but you have to learn to say NO WAY.

Make these bold declarations:

I have a right to The Total Life.
I enjoy the Full benefits Christ purchased for me through redemption.
I fight the good fight of faith in every area of my life.
I have victory all the time.
My faith is active and producing results.

The Friday Diary Entry of a Diaper Change

I hadn't changed a diaper in many months. Truly, all was set to ensure i avoided the diaper changing session again. I repented and yes, i did it! and very well too.

Now let's move from the unsolicited diary entry of an eventful Friday to a matter you truly are interested in, The Total Life.

In my last post, i wrote about The Total Life and some of the ways a person can enjoy it. The list of "how" i documented was not in any way exhaustive. Yet, i believe that those things, if practiced, will help an individual have a Total Life indeed.

A Total Life, again, can be described as one that is considered progressive and fruitful in every way: Finances, Career, Family, Ministry, Academics and other Areas of Life.

The Total Life has been made available to everyone who has genuinely confessed Jesus as Lord and Saviour. They must only commit to taking advantage of it.

I'd like to expatiate on The Total Life in this post.

Indeed, my diary entry of the diaper- changing session is well connected to The Total Life. Here it is : the singular act of embracing a seemingly minute task like changing of diaper ( which of course is as much my responsibility as my wife's) definitely made my wife happy and she felt she could really count on me to be there for the family in every way, even as regarding a responsibility that i could have shirked easily. One thing that motivated me was my desire to support my wife and family. It all goes back to the desire to have The Total Life.

The Desire for The Total Life will help us see opportunities to make  input into experiencing it. Make a commitment to The Total Life and invest in it on a consistent basis.

Read a new book on marriage. Attend a week long seminar to improve your career. Take your wife out this week. Meditate on scriptures for finances again. Spend some quality time with your family. Commit to taking the trash out!  Put a reminder on your phone about leaving the toilet seat down (make your wife happy).

Look at every area of your life today and improve. Family, Finances, Career, Health, Academics and other areas of your life can indeed be Total.

Make these declarations boldly:

I advance in every area of my life.
God's life is active in me.
I walk in the wisdom of God for effective living.
I produce results consistent with my new creation status.
I walk in the love of God.
I abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
I live my life by the Faith of the Son of God.
My manifestations are not aborted.

The Total Life

The Total Life

“Life is good...Life is beautiful…Life is peaceful…Life is hard…Life is unfair…Life is unpredictable.” This list is endless. Different people, based on their experiences and that of others, have coined different phrases to explain life.

Experiences have a way of making people conclude their version of life is the valid one. This is so especially because of repeated occurrences of an experience and many other stories they hear similar to theirs.

But the most important view of life can only be from the author of life.

Indeed, God, who is the author of life, clearly shows that life can be Total and His greatest desire is that everyone experiences His version of life.

Everyone can have a total life!

This is not some catchy phrase with tacky details, neither is it too good to be true. But rather it captures how God expects life to be and that is how you should desire it to be.

Some people don't have struggles with whether God wants it for them, the struggle is as to whether it's too tall a dream for them to attain or gun for.

God's reality is still absolutely unshakeable despite the odds revealed by many cases around us where people fall short of a Total Life.

Everything God created until man, he adjudged good; but after he created man, he upgraded his assessment to Very Good.

In one place, God said he wired us with the capacity to produce good works and live a good life.

In another place God said his ideas, thoughts and plans for you include completeness, soundness, welfare, prosperity, health, peace, tranquility and wholeness.

In yet another place God said each life has been planned to be super-abundant in quantity and superior in quality.

The word of God more than convinces us that His plan for us is to live a Total Life.

He wants us to have a complete, whole or, simply put, a Total Life where nothing is missing, lacking, broken, stolen, delayed, denied, withheld; where nothing is uncontrolled, complicated, twisted or distorted.

And Yes, you should have better than a happy ending, the Total life is yours for the taking!

The most profound truth is that God has already done everything needed for you to have a Total Life.

To take full advantage, you need to:

1.     Have a relationship with the Author of The Total Life and that by accepting Jesus as your lord and savior.

2.     Desire a Total life. You've got to want it.

3.     Search out the Author's manual, (The Holy Bible) where you’ll find what God says about every area of your life (family, career, health, finances, etc.)

4.     Make continuous confession about all that God has said about the different areas of your life. As you do this, you will start building an image of a Total life.

5.     Walk with the Holy Spirit as he leads and instructs you per time.

The Images you develop from God's word for different areas of your life form the blue print of a Total Life. As you continue walking with God, the blue print will eventually become a reality.

Make this bold declarations:

I have a colourful  Life.
I have a complete Life.
I have a healthy image of a Total Life.
I'm rooted in God's word.
I'm sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit.
I have a Total Life!

The Introduction

It was in December 2012 that I decided I would begin to blog.  A few weeks back I realized almost 6 months had gone since that promise and I was yet to write the first piece. Then I set myself up by telling the whole world I would begin to blog in June. So, here I am writing this first piece since I'm resigned to make my word good!

I thought of titles I could call this blog: 'The good life,' 'The complete life,' 'The whole life.' Then I thought, 'The Total Life' and voila!

I must have passed up many opportunities to write some amazing posts; I must start anyway.

Here it is. My name is Abimbola Ijisesan and blogging begins today!
